Monthly Favourites: November 2014

Hey everyone!

I have a little bit of time to blog, so here is my monthly favourites for the past month. I can’t believe December is almost half way over, Christmas is only 14 days away!

Let’s get started!

First off as far as primers go, I might have a slight addiction. I am serious, I have more primers half used and open than any other product. I feel like I assess my skin each morning and decide what it needs. I have one for large pores, redness, oily skin, bad acne days and my usual Smashbox Photo Finish Original for every other day. This one I use for very red days or days I just wear this and concealer and go lighter on the makeup. I am hoping for a Shoppers giftcard for Christmas, and I plan to buy a full size of this one.

In the winter my skin is even redder than usual, from the wind and cold, so I am happy I found a nice foundation to use in lieu of my Smashbox CC Cream. This is from Rimmel and is called Stay Matte mousse foundation in 100 Ivory. It has a decent amount of coverage and is a nice stepping stone because it does not cake up. I mix a tiny amount in my fingers with this Estée Lauder’s Idealist which is a skin tone evening illuminator (I have a mini from a swap).

Rimmel Stay Matte (4.97$):

For concealer I am still loving my Nars Radiant Creamy concealer in Vanilla. It is light weight but covers my dark circles. Enough said…

Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer (35$):

As you can see from the pan visible on this product, I use this every day. This is the Rimmel Stay Matte pressed powder in Translucent.

Rimmel powder (3.97$):

My favourite blush and bronzer can be found in this adorable set. This is the Benefit Cheeky Sweet Spot Box O’ Blushes. It is a cute little tin with 5 of their famous blushes, their famous Hoola bronzer, a mini brush and a mini pan of Watt’s Up (highlighter). I have been in love with the Hoola bronzer (bottom left) and for blush the Rockateur (bottom right, name has rub off) which is a beautiful rose gold colour that is beautiful in the fall/winter. This set has sold out at Sephora and the Benefit website, so if you come across it somewhere else, I recommend grabbing it and never letting go!

Benefit Cheeky Sweet Spot (36$):

For highlight this month I have been using this Temptu one from my Ipsy bag in Pink Pearl. I love it. The picture does not do it justice. It has beautiful pink/pearl duochrome and is stunning. The bottle is super tiny, but this is one drop on my hand, so a little goes a long way.

Full size Temptu (27.50$):

On to eye area… Brows. I am in love with this. I will not stray. I want to buy a whole bunch to use for the rest of my life. It is a tinted brow gel with fibers that are supposed to thicken brows. Dang. I just love it. It is the Benefit Gimme Brow in Light/Medium in case someone has not seen this.

Gimme Brow (22$):

My favourite eye lid primer right now is this one from Too Faced in Candlelight. I got this in a swap. It is beautiful, even on its own. I recently purchased the Black Friday mini duo with the original and Champagne ones from Too Faced so I will be probably mention them later on.

Too Faced Candelight (24$):

My favourite eye shadow palette and eye shadow come are the Lorac Mega Pro Palette and the particular shade that you can see the obvious dent in is Smokey Topaz. I have since this picture hit pan. And I almost cried. This palette is hard to find, but if you stalk Amazon you might be lucky. I have looked for individual eye shadows that are similar and I need to find one. I love this shadow.

Lorac Mega Pro Palette (59$):

My favourite lip balm has been this Josie Maran Argan lip treatment pot in the shade Rosey. It is hydrating and beautiful on the lips. I am not the biggest fan of the taste, but it shouldn’t be eating should I? I received this in a swap so I did not pay full price.

Josie Maran lip treatment (original retails for 23$):

My favourite lipstick has been this Nars Audacious Lipstick in the shade Anna, which is described as a smokey rose. It is a dusty rose/mauve colour. It is beautiful and I love the formula. I don’t love the price tag. It is so expensive! I bought this little guy with the 20% off sale at the beginning of November. I have recently purchased another one Audrey (red currant) with my 25$ off Rouge promo. That is the way to buy these, when a deal is in place stock up! But they are beautiful, and worth it.

Nars lipstick in Anna (37$):

I have been loving this candle scent from Bath and Body Works (not this size, I bought medium, but it is no longer on the site) called Marshmallow Fireside. It is described as “a sweet end to a long cold day – toasted marshmallows and sumptuous vanilla cream blend with the comforting aroma of rich smoldering woods”. It is so rich and wonderful. I just went to the site to look up the link for you guys and found that 3-wick candles are on sale for 12$ (which is 10.50$ cheaper than usual price) and I just want to buy more, but I can’t…

Marshmallow Fireside (3-wick):

On top of my usual TV I have started watching Heartland on Netflix. Yes, cue eye roll. I don’t care. I like silly dramas. And horses. So too bad. It also has a lot of actors that have gone on to other shows I like (Arrow, Reign, etc.) It is actually not that bad and I mean the guys are super cute 😉 I am Canadian, I have to watch it, it is in our Constitution!

Right now is a great time for TV a few of my shows that ended for the summer came back this week for Christmas specials (being The Fosters, Chasing Life, Switched at Birth, Baby Daddy and Pretty Little Liars). As well mid season finales for my other shows (Once upon a Time, Revenge, Jane the Virgin, Nashville, The Flash, Arrow, The 100, Vampire Diaries and Reign). Plus I am so much closer to new Glee, Game of Thrones and Downton Abbey!

Music wise I have been listening to these 4 songs on repeat lately. I will link the songs on YouTube.

First is The Hanging Tree by James Newton Howard ft. Jennifer Lawrence from the Mockingjay soundtrack. It is beautiful and haunting. Such an amazing song, I get chills.

Hanging Tree:

Next is from Imagine Dragons and is called I Bet My Life. I saw them perform this at the American Music Awards and I fell in love. It is a great song!

I Bet My Life:

Third is a given. I can’t not admit my love for this song. It is Taylor Swift’s Blank Space. I am in love with this song. I mean it is upbeat in tempo and the lyrics are genius. I also love the video, so if you click this link I will put the video, which plays like a lovely short film!

Blank Space:

Finally is a song from Lorde. I love her. She is so real and wonderful. This song is also on the Mockingjay soundtrack which she curated. I saw this performance on the AMAs as well and got the song immediately. It is called Yellow Flicker Beat. I will link the video first and as a bonus link the performance from the AMAs.

Yellow Flicker Beat video:

I hope you enjoyed this post of my favourite things, just a little insight into my life! Let me know below which products you have been loving as well as TV and music! I love learning about new shows and songs ❤
