Monthly Favourites: September 2014

Hey everyone!

I have been wanting to join to monthly favourites bandwagon for a long time, and I have finally had time to put together my favourites in beauty (as well as music, books, movies and TV) to share with you. This month will be longer than the months to come, merely because it is so hard to narrow down my faves for the first time. In the future, I will not mention these products again, but these are products I use on a daily basis.

First off I will mention my go-to skincare faves. This is a deluxe sample size of the Argan Cleansing Oil from Josie Maran. Now I was skeptical before buying this, how does oil cleanse? I thought it would make my skin oily and gross. But it makes my skin soft and takes off all my makeup. It also smells amazing, slightly fruity.

Deluxe size bottle retails for 15$ at Sephora:

Next for moisturizers and serums, these have been working the best for me. I received the GinZing eye cream and energy-boosting moisturizer in the Sephora 500-point perk they had last month. I love them. They smell like orange and work so well and waking my face up. I have also been using the Lancome Youth Activating Concentrate and Estee Lauder Perfectionist serum that I received in sample size from my Murale Fab and Free 2014 sample bag.

GinZing moisturizer (32$):

GinZing eye cream (37.50$):

Estee Lauder Perfectionist (107$):

Lancome concentrate (127$):

First in makeup I have hit pan on my fave pressed powder. This is Rimmel’s Stay Matte in the shade 001 Transparent. I can’t leave the house without this. Sometimes I use just this to make my face less shiny. It works wonders and is not very expensive.

Stay Matte (6$):

My current fave concealer is this Instant Age Rewind from Maybelline. I love it. It is not cakey on the skin but covers my ever growing dark circles. It is also quite inexpensive compared to others I have tried, and I have been using this daily for 3 months and barely put a dent in the amount of product. I use the shade Fair.

Age Rewind (11$):

My favourite blush of the summer and the one I use daily is Hervana from Benefit. It is a beautiful swirl pattern of peach, pink and mauve. It looks amazing on the skin and smells amazing. I don’t know what they perfume their blushes with, but it is wonderful!

Hervana (36$):

My favourite highlighter is Mary-Lou Manizer from theBalm. Mine was ordered from, and sadly arrived broken, but I have managed to use the unbroken side to get some product on my brush. This is a beautiful champagne shade that picks up the light on your face without looking like a disco ball. Use sparingly, since overdoing it will be obvious!

Mary-Lou Manizer (16£):

My favourite bronzer from the summer and September comes from Pop Beauty. I received this in an Ipsy bag. It is their Sunkissed Bronzer in Secret Sunshine. I love this bronzer. It works similarly to Nars’ Laguna (which I also love). It has a light shimmer, but that doesn’t transfer too much on the face.

Pop bronzer:

For eye shadows, I have been obsessed with this Infallible loose eye shadows. This is the colour Amber Rush. It blends beautifully and I have been using it as an all over lid colour. Words can’t describe how much I love this colour.

Amber Rush (7$):

For mascara, this month I have been using a sample of Too Faced’s Better Than Sex mascara that I received in a swap. The brush is really different and it holds a curl really well. It is quite waterproof since I have been caught in the rain and it stayed put.

Better than Sex (30$):

For lips I have two go-to colours for September. The first is a Bite pigment pencil in the shade Meritage. It is a sheer brick red colour, that looks amazing on the lips. I am in love with anything from Bite and I received this in the Give Me Some Lip kit from Sephora. I will be repurchasing for sure.

Give Me Some Lip (30$):

Meritage (38$):

The other lip product I have been using is this Amazonian Butter Lipstick from Tarte in the shade Watermelon. I bought this at Sephora in July and it is the perfect summer shade. This feels like butter on the lips and is super pigmented.

Watermelon (19$):

Lip care wise I use these daily. I love the Lush Popcorn lip scrub. It smells amazing and tasted really good (you are supposed to lick the excess off, it is not just me!). I also have been using the Bite Agave Lip Mask every night before bed. It is thick and creamy and smells amazing!

Agave Lip Mask (30$):

For nail polish, I have been obsessed with the new Sephora Formula X System. It makes all my nail polish last longer and look shiny like a gel manicure. I can’t get enough of it. The colour I chose as part of the kit is Prism. It is a beautiful turquoise prismatic shade.

System X (40$):

My other two favourite polishes for the upcoming fall are Essie’s Hide and Go Chic (which I found on clearance for 5$) and Zoya’s Mason (which I received in a swap). They are beautiful darker shades to transition from summer to fall.

Zoya- Mason (10$):

Essie – Hide and Go Chic (9$):

My favourite piece of jewelry is this monogrammed necklace that I bought from Etsy. It is simple and understated and I wear it everyday.

Necklace (44$):

My favourite candle has been this Goji Tarocco Orange candle from Chapters. It smells like oranges and is probably my favourite thing I own. This is my third candle with this scent and I am almost done it. I want to reuse this beautiful container to hold my brushes when I am done.

Goji candle (23$):

My favourite music this month has been from Sam Smith, Ed Sheeran and Dylan Saunders. All three of these albums are new and I can’t get enough. Faves for Sam Smith are Latch, La La La, I’m Not the Only One and Stay With Me. Faves for Ed Sheeran are Don’t, The Man and Thinking Out Loud. Faves for Dylan Saunders (Confluence is released today – I had Kickstarter access) are Nothing Better, I Shoulda Lied and Say My Name.

Favourite movie this month was a highly anticipated one in my books, The Maze Runner starring Dylan O’Brien. I love this series by James Dashner, and the movie did not disappoint. A sequel has been ordered for next year for the next book The Scorch Trials.

My favourite book of the month has been Heir of Fire by Sarah J. Maas. I love this series. It is full of unexpected plot twists and action. Also having a kickass female lead is nice to read. Check it out from the beginning with Throne of Glass.

Last but not least, my favourite TV show has been the Mindy Project. Season 3 returned two weeks ago and I spent September rewatching the first two season on Netflix. I love love love this show. I wish I didn’t have to wait a full week for a new episode. I highly recommend this show. It is funny and witty and heartfelt at times.

Anyways this pretty much sums up my month, let me know below what makeup, skincare, TV shows, books or movies have been your faves!
